New fast-casual breakfast and lunch spot helps support meals for local seniors
Sioux Falls, South Dakota: Active Generations announced a fresh way to support its mission to provide nutritious meals to adults in the region. On June 16, 2026, the nonprofit will open Simply Good Café at its East Campus (5500 E. Active Generations Place). The café will serve a full breakfast and lunch menu for the public. All proceeds will go toward congregate and home-delivered meals for individuals 60 and older across the Sioux Empire.
“From the get-go, our goals for Simply Good have been to provide a way for more people to support the mission of Active Generations beyond volunteering and direct donations,” said Betsy Schuster, President and CEO. “This new public restaurant offering is an exciting opportunity to bring good food to our community, whether through dining in or our nutrition program.”
Simply Good Café invites everyone to eat with a purpose. The menu includes breakfast and lunch items. Breakfast options include pancakes and breakfast sandwiches. Lunch offerings include salads, wraps, paninis, flatbread pizzas and homemade soups. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are also available. Prices range from $6 to $10 for breakfast and $7 to $15 for lunch.
“A core pillar of Simply Good Café is giving diners the power of choice,” Schuster said. “The menu offers flexibility for the public and for individuals ages 60 and older.”
Individuals ages 60 and older can order special menu items through Active Generations’ nutrition program, with suggested donations of $4 for breakfast and $5.25 for lunch.
The café is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. For a full menu, visit SimplyGoodAG.org.
The café is one way to support Active Generations programs through food. Simply Good serves as an additional funding stream for Active Generations’ Senior Nutrition Program. Simply Good also offers catering and custom cookies for corporate events and celebrations, along with large and small-portion take-and-bake meals. Funding for its nutrition program is partially reimbursed through the federal Older Americans Act (OAA) Title III-C grant, administered by the state.
“Since reimbursements aren’t able to cover all rising costs, Simply Good Café, along with our catering, take-and-bakes, and cookies, helps close the funding gap. Every dollar from Simply Good goes toward our nutrition program,” Schuster said. “Our program serves almost 300,000 meals each year in the Sioux Empire, both in group settings and through home deliveries.”
Visit SimplyGoodAG.org to learn more about its catering, cookie and take-and-bake options.
The public is invited to the grand opening celebration at 4:30 p.m. on June 16 at 5500 E Active Generations Place. The event will feature free samples and a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce. No RSVP needed.
