Active Generations is a place for adults to connect with others, discover new interests, and explore ways to live a healthy life with more than 45 clubs and special interest groups to choose from.

Arts and Crafts

Let your creativity shine. Whether you love painting, sewing, crafting, or trying something brand new, you’ll find a welcoming space to express yourself. You are encouraged to explore, create, and enjoy the process.

Painting and Drawing Open Studio

Fuel your imagination and find inspiration as you express yourself creatively during open studio.

Basic supplies are available, and we encourage newer artists to bring any favorite materials they’d like to use.

Woodcarving and Acanthus Carving Clubs

The Woodcarving and Acanthus Carving Clubs offer a collaborative space to hone your craft. Whether you’re interested in general woodcarving or the intricate details of Acanthus leaf design, you can explore this traditional art form.

We advise members to bring their own supplies, but the club does have some equipment for newcomers to try out.

Quilting Club

These quilters share creativity, conversation, and the joy of making something meaningful together. It’s a welcoming space to learn, relax, and connect—one stitch at a time.

Knitting Club

This club is a friendly place to learn, share ideas, and enjoy the company of fellow knitters. Every gathering is fun, supportive, and full of good conversation.

Creative Writing Group

Find your voice and share your stories. This group is a space for writers of all levels to gain inspiration and refine their storytelling skills.

Crafters Club

Our Crafters Club comes together to explore new projects and enjoy time with friends. It’s a relaxed, supportive space designed for creative exploration.

‘Color Me Happy’ Coloring Club

Our ‘Color Me Happy’ Club offers a cheerful group to relax, unwind, and enjoy the simple pleasure of coloring together. It’s bright, delightful to get creative and connect with friends.

Music and Dance

Get down with Active Generations music groups! Whether you want to sing, play, or dance, there’s an opportunity for you to have fun and feel energized.

Dance Clubs

Join us for fun, upbeat dances all year long, open to both members and the public. Experience a new live band every Tuesday!

Kazukes

This unique club combines the buzz of a kazoo with the strings of a ukulele. Since their formation in 2011, they’ve been invited to perform at area nursing homes, assisted living communities, churches, schools, and the VA.

Line Dancing Club

Our line dancing sessions are a high-energy way to stay active, sharpen coordination, and enjoy a variety of music—from classic country to modern pop.

Sing-Along Club

Gather weekly to sing along with the oldies and make some new friends.

Board and Card Games

Whether you love a friendly competition or a relaxed afternoon of games, you’ll find plenty of options to enjoy. From bingo to billiards to classic board games, there’s always a seat open for you.

Cards and Gaming Clubs

Enjoy more than 17 different card and game clubs with fellow members. Players should know the game beforehand, and club leaders are happy to explain rules and scoring.

Lessons aren’t available during club time, but we offer formal classes throughout the year. Monthly kick-off meetings include a brief refresher and time to greet new members.

Games include: 10 Point Pitch, 500 Cards, Duplicate & Party Bridge, Canasta, Cribbage, Dominoes, Fast Track, Hand & Foot, Hearts, Mah Jongg, Pinochle, and Whist.

Billiards and Snooker

Step into our Billiards Room, home to five 9-foot regulation pool tables and a full Snooker table.

Bingo

You are invited to enjoy Bingo several times each month in our Sertoma A&B Room—come for the fun, stay for the great company!

Bean Bags (Cornhole)

Enjoy a classic game of precision and social connection. We host monthly games that include beer and snacks too.

Shuffleboard

Join us for a round or two of shuffleboard.

Wii Bowling

Hit the lanes and enjoy this virtual spin on classic bowling.

Special Interest Clubs

Expanding your horizons is a lifelong pursuit. From outdoor adventures to personal growth, these groups focus on keeping your mind and body engaged.

Golfing Club (Seasonal)

Get out on the green and golf throughout the area with the Golfing Club.

Hiking Club (Seasonal)

Explore local trails with this group during seasonal excursions.

Book Club

Engage in conversation and explore new literature with a group that loves life-long learning.

Bible Study

Share reflections and deep discussions in an environment of faith and community.

Table Tennis

Open to players 18 and up, we offer weekly play and two annual tournaments that bring in top competitors from across the Midwest (SD, ND, IA, and NE).

Trips and Travel

Our trips and travel programs are the perfect way to see new places and make lasting memories. Whether you prefer a quick day trip or an exciting week-long adventure, we make it easy for you to get out, have fun, and enjoy the journey.

Active Generations Outings

Members can enjoy outings on our 14-passenger bus. These outings vary from educational tours to fun trips to explore the community.

Motorcycle Club

Get revved up for the Active Generations Motorcycle club! We cruise the back roads of the region on trips that vary in length. We also plan a few multi-day rides throughout the year.

Members are required to provide proof of insurance and wear helmets as dictated by South Dakota state law.

Walking Club

Explore local trails, build healthy habits, and make new friends who enjoy being outdoors. Lace up your shoes and join the group—no experience needed.

Out to Lunch Bunch

Monthly trip to learn about a different community organization and mission followed by lunch! These ladies are fun, curious and are passionate about their community.
