Meals on Wheels         MOW Logo

The Meals on Wheels program consists of a hot meal, delivered to your door between 10:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. To be eligible to receive meals, recipients must be 60 or older and home bound, meaning they spend most of their time at home or are unable to prepare healthy, consistent meals in their homes for medical or social reasons. Meals on Wheels is a donation based program; the minimum suggested donation is $4.00 (as of September 1, 2016) per meal. If you or someone you know would like to receive meals through the Meals on Wheels program, please call 605-336-6748 for more information.  If you are a current client, please call 605-333-3305 if you have any questions or concerns.

If you are under 60 and interested in receiving Meals on Wheels, please call Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) at 605-367-5444, ask for an intake specialist and check if you are eligible for the Meals on Wheels program.

Volunteers Needed

We are in need of Meals on Wheels serving line meal packers.  Assembly of the meals begins at 9:45 a.m. and usually runs until 10:45 a.m.

Weather Policy

If the Sioux Falls School System is closed due to bad weather, then Active Generations is closed also. There will be no congregate dining or Meals on Wheels delivery in Sioux Falls, Brandon, and Tea. If Brandon and/or Tea is closed but Sioux Falls is open, there will be No Delivery to those cities. Please listen to the local television and radio stations for cancellation announcements. We will make every effort to deliver meals whenever possible after bad weather, but if drivers do not feel that it is safe for them, they will not deliver. We will not ask the drivers to put themselves in jeopardy.

I am grateful for the MOW Volunteers! They are so dedicated to the giving of their time. They contribute to making my life so much easier.  I would  NEVER be able to eat as healthy on my own.  Thanks so much especially to the drivers and all those who work to make this program available…Home Delivered Meal Recipient

This is a wonderful idea to help people eat a meal and I hope you can keep it going.  The food is tasty and this way I get a variety of food to eat. Very thankful for this help…Home Delivered Recipient

I am so grateful that I am on the Meals on Wheels program. It allows me to stay in my home longer. I have no immediate family nearby but they are glad to know that I have a good meal and daily contact with others.  Thanks to active Generations Meals on Wheels program…Home Delivered Meal Recipient
