Our Mission
“Meals on Wheels is dedicated to providing nutritious meals, companionship, and community support to seniors and individuals in need, empowering them to live independently with dignity in their own homes. We are committed to reducing isolation, improving quality of life, and fostering a compassionate, caring community.”
–
The Meals on Wheels program consists of a hot meal delivered to your door between 10:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. To be eligible to receive meals, recipients must be 60 or older and homebound, meaning they spend most of their time at home or are unable to prepare healthy, consistent meals in their homes for medical or social reasons. Meals on Wheels is a donation-based program; the minimum suggested donation is $5.25 per meal. If you, or someone you know, would like to receive meals through the Meals on Wheels program, please call 605-333-3305 for more information.
If you are under 60 and interested in receiving Meals on Wheels, please call Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) at 605-367-5444, ask for an intake specialist and check if you are eligible for the Meals on Wheels program.

Weather Policy
If the Sioux Falls School System is closed due to bad weather, then Active Generations is closed also. There will be no congregate dining or Meals on Wheels delivery in Sioux Falls, Brandon, Garretson, Harrisburg, and Tea. If Brandon, Garretson, Harrisburg, or Tea is closed but Sioux Falls is open, there will be No Delivery to those cities. Please listen to the local television and radio stations for cancellation announcements. We will make every effort to deliver meals whenever possible after bad weather, but if drivers do not feel that it is safe for them, they will not deliver. We will not ask the drivers to put themselves in jeopardy.
The Active Generations’ Senior Nutrition Program serves Minnehaha, Lincoln, Turner, McCook, and Union Counties. Call your local Senior Center to make a reservation or to apply for the Senior Meals Program.
