For nearly 50 years, Active Generations has been the cornerstone of connection for our community’s adults. Today, we stand at a crossroads.
With our East Campus nearing capacity and our Main Campus ready for a new chapter, the IGNITE Campaign is our commitment to ensure that no one is left behind as our community grows. With your support, we will create world-class spaces where generations stay healthy, stay curious, and stay connected. This plan includes:
Eastside Expansion
A 45,000 sq. ft. expansion to meet the demand of the East Campus. This will include:
- Eight new indoor pickleball courts for year-round activity.
- Dedicated indoor walking track and expanded fitness rooms.
- Additional activity rooms designed for lifelong learning and hobbies. This means more spaces for Mah Jongg, crafts, and bean bags.
Main Campus Renovation
Our Main Campus has been well-loved and is ready for renewal. We are modernizing our 30-year-old facility to better serve our members. With the following elements:
- A new dedicated dining area separated from activity spaces for a true restaurant-style experience.
- Upgraded serving area for congregate dining and furnishings throughout the building.
- An enhanced fitness area and social club spaces designed for comfort and connection (Phase 2)

Campaign FAQs
Active Generations is embarking on an exciting journey to expand and revitalize our facilities. Our mission is to create high-class experiences that ignite health, wellness, learning, exploration and, most importantly, belonging in our community— but we need your help to make it happen.
What is the IGNITE Campaign?
The IGNITE Campaign is a $13.5 million fundraising initiative dedicated to modernizing our Main Campus and expanding our East Campus. These funds will create high-class experiences that ignite health, wellness, and belonging for adults in our community.
What makes this campaign so important?
By 2035, half of Sioux Falls’ population will be aged 50 and older. Active Generations facilities and services are essential to community quality of life and well-being. This project will open new wellness and health opportunities and assist Active Generations in creating self-sustaining revenue that is reinvested directly into our essential community programs like Meals on Wheels, Senior Nutrition, Adult Day and Caregiver Support Services, and keeping membership rates accessible for all.
What will the expansion and renovations include?
- A 45,000 sq. ft. addition to the East Campus that will include:
- A 0.15-mile elevated indoor walking track for year-round movement.
- Eight professional indoor pickleball courts
- Expanded cardio, weight rooms, and studios
- Activity Space
- A total renewal of the 30-year-old Main Campus Space
- New, restaurant-style dining hall separated from activity noise.
- Upgraded furnishings and modern serving area for congregate dining.
- An upscale fitness area and club spaces for connection and comfort
Q: What about Main Campus? Why start with the East Campus expansion?
The East Campus is the first phase of development for the IGNITE Campaign. Because of the location of Active Generations East and the growth we’ve seen in membership since 2023, East Campus’ expansion will grow the footprint to manage our immediate capacity needs. Once the East expansion is complete, we will begin renovations to the Main Campus that include a dedicated dining area (separated from the multipurpose pickleball/activity space), updated furniture, and a serving area for the building.
How will this project impact the community?
Upon the completion of the project, our facilities will have more capacity to meeting the needs of the most active 60+ population in history and grow to continue to meet the needs of the growing Sioux Falls population. This project ensures our city remains a premier place to retire and live well.
