Fall Prevention Seminar & Balance Screens
Sep 6 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Falls are the second leading cause of accidental death in the United States.  75% of these falls occur in the older adult population.  1/3 of the older adults who fall sustain a hip fracture and are hospitalized, die within a year.  falls not only affect the quality of life of the individual but also influence the caregiver and family.  Health care costs for falls and rehabilitation average 70 billion dollars a year!  Even if the fall does not result in hospitalization, fear of falling becomes a major factor.  Fear leads to inactivity and loss of confidence.  This, in turn, produces a cycle of fear, loss of self-confidence, and inactivity, thereby decreasing the quality of life and increasing the risk of falls.

Come and learn some facts about falls and how we can prevent falls from happening.  You will learn some great exercises to strengthen the lower body, learn exercises to increase good posture and learn exercises to increase overall mobility.

This seminar will be conducted by Jenny Center, Active Generations’ Activity and Volunteer Coordinator

Register at the Information Window by September 4.

Elite Labs Cancer & Pharmaceutical Screenings
Sep 10 @ 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

You may qualify for a FREE Cancer and/or Pharmacogenomics test.

Do you have a personal history of cancer?  Why should you take the test?  These tests can test up to 39 different cancer genes, help lower the risk of cancer by surgery, change of lifestyle, or start screenings to catch cancer early.  If you already have cancer, testing may help guide targeted treatment.

Do  you currently take multiple medications for heart, pain or psychiatric?  These tests can help determine the risk of side effects and/or likelihood of effectiveness of a given medication decreasing the chances of Adverse Drug Reactions.  The tests can determine how well YOU metabolize medications.  Test results are not only important for the medications you are taking but potentially for other drugs prescribed in the future.

Staff members of CJ Sales, LLC, an authorized representative of Elite Laboratories will be on site to conduct tests and answer questions.
